En este contexto, Susan Clayton, que trabaja elaborando pasatiempos para una revista, recibe un mensaje cifrado que parece significar «Te he encontrado». La críptica nota es especialmente siniestra en un momento en que un asesino en serie acecha Florida, un asesino que puede ser el desaparecido padre de Susan.

The Adverts

The Adverts fue una banda de punk rock inglesa formada en 1976 y disuelta en 1979. Son principalmente recordados por sus singles "One Chord Wonders" y "Gary Gilmore's Eyes", así como por haber sido una de las primeras bandas punk inglesas en incorporar a una mujer entre sus miembros. 

El tema "Gary Gilmore's Eyes" alcanzó el número uno del "top 40" británico en agosto de 1977. También la banda fue conocida por la actitud "provocativa" de su bajista Gaye Advert, ya que realizó varias fotografías en donde se la ve semi-desnuda. 

La banda comenzó realizando shows como teloneros de otros grupos de cierta importancia en la escena punk de la década de 1970, y su primer gran actuación se realizaó en el primer encuentro punk realizado en el famoso club The Roxy, en 1977. 

La banda consiguió sus primeras grabaciones gracias a John Peel, quien les preparó una sesión en vivo para la BBC Radio 1. Al poco tiempo salió su primer simple: "One Chord Wonders", el cual fue bien recibido por la crítica, en especial por Melody Maker y Sounds. 

En febrero de 1978, la banda edita su primer álbum Crossing the Red Sea with The Adverts, grabado en los estudios Abbey Road y producido por John Leckie, el cual incluye "No Time To Be 21", el cual llegó al puesto #38 del Reino Unido.1 Trouser Press afirmó que "a su manera", el álbum "es el equivalente al primer LP de los Sex Pistols o The Clash, una declaración precipitada que captura un momento excitante". En marzo de 2003, la revista Mojo calificó a Crossing the Red Sea with The Adverts con el puesto Nº 17 en su Top 50 Punk Albums. 

La popularidad de la banda crecía, además de haber realizado dos apariciones en el programa Top Of The Pops. El 12 de octubre de 1979, sale su segundo disco Cast of Thousands, el cual posee un sonido más distanciado respecto a su antecesor y acercándolos a la música new wave. A pesar del éxito, la banda se encontraba en un pleito judicial con Rod Latter y Howard Pickup (ex-integrantes), quienes se oponían a que el grupo siga manteniendo su nombre sin contar con ellos. Tiempo después, el manager de la banda Michael Dempsey, falleció a causa de un accidente eléctrico, lo que deterioró la situación interna entre los músicos. 

Fue entonces que The Adverts, da su último show en Slough College, el 27 de octubre de 1979. Luego de esto, T.V. Smith formó junto a Tim Cross el grupo T.V. Smith's Explorers, luego Cheap, y finalmente desde la década del '90 se lanzó como solista. 

Miembros 

T.V. Smith y Gaye Advert fueron los fundadores del grupo. T.V. Smith era cantante y guitarrista, mientras que Gaye Advert era la encargada de tocar el bajo, aunque luego también participó como segunda cantante. El segundo guitarrista fue Howard Pickup, sustituido por Paul Martinez durante los últimos meses de la banda. También hubo cuatro bateristas: Laurie Driver, Jon Towe, Rod Latter y Rick Martinez. Por último, Tim Cross fue el tecladista de la banda. 

Gaye Black (o Gaye Advert, como se la conoce), se retiró de la escena musical luego de la separación de su grupo, dedicándose a servicios sociales. A peasr de su breve paso por la música, The Virgin Encyclopedia of 70s Music la nombró como la "primera estrella punk femenina".

The Adicts

The Adicts es una banda de punk rock formada en Suffolk, Inglaterra en 1975. 

Sus inicios fueron de scout en Aldburgh, Suffolk. En cuanto a su educación musical, Pete Dee estudio clase de música en su escuela, a Kid Dee solo le gustaba golpear cosas, Mel "Spider" consiguió su "talento" gracias a su familia. También estaba Spy el cual invento varias de las canciones para the adicts, pero luego Spy se retiró de la banda ya que tenía otros planes con Paul McCartney, aunque hasta el día de hoy recibe el 50% de las ganancias del grupo, es importante destacar que Spy creo "Viva la revolution" 

Una vez con este mismo nombre estos chicos de Suffolk, se dedicaron los dos años siguientes a dar conciertos en su distrito y condado, pero el 18 de agosto de 1979 dieron su primer concierto en Londres en el barrio de Candem y en el local Breakneck. 

1979 - 1981, Songs of Praise 

El sello discográfico Dinning Out fue su primera casa y su primer trabajo fue "Lunchtime with The Adicts". Con este disco vendieron 10.000 copias y fueron número dos en las listas independientes de UK. El productor musical Jonh Peel les vio y decidió ficharlos, no sin la oposición del sello Dinning Out, que por entonces solamente les había pagado 23 libras. 

Visto el panorama decidieron crear su propio sello y sacar su primer Lp titulado Songs of Praise que ellos mismos financiaron con un crédito bancario, grabándolo y mezclándolo en solo 24 horas. Este disco muestra la verdadera fuerza de The Adicts, siendo a su vez la primera vez que adoptaban nuevo vestuario basado en la los bombines de la película "La naranja mecánica" Esto parecía contradictorio, adoptar una imagen divertida dentro del mundo Punk. Esto lo dejaron claro y demostrando que los bombines solamente eran una nota de color dentro de sus conciertos y que los pantalones de cuero, los vaqueros y la mohicanas se adaptaban perfectamente también a su vestuario. Esta forma de vestir, pudo haber sido un esfuerzo consciente para ponerse en contra de la apariencia de la carente imaginación de las bandas de los 80's de punk o solo una forma de buscar la manera de divertirse y ser interesantes. 

Escribiendo canciones sobre el desempleo, la desilusión, y todas esas cosas felices, pero que en realidad era un acuerdo con los inconformes desarrollado su propio estilo y voz. Sobre todo la banda creo un concepto, no sólo la música, sino la mirada, la actitud, la esencia, que no se encuentra en otras bandas. Posiblemente la mejor canción en el álbum Viva la Revolución fue elegido como sencillo, junto con ‘Numbers’ y ‘(My Baby Got Run Over By A) Steamroller’ que se posicionó en 3 meses en las listas independientes Indie Charts, cimentando la reputación de rápido crecimiento a The Adicts como uno de los las bandas más innovadoras y populares de la nueva ola del punk de la época. 

Su apuesta personal dio resultado y en un par de semanas recuperaron el dinero que habían solicitado para grabar con su propio sello y fueron fichados por Fall Out Records, que tenían una mejor distribución. 

1982 - 1984, Sound of Music 

En julio del año 1982 grabaron otro disco titulado "Sound of Music". Un disco que demuestra que The adicts son una banda divertida dentro del Punk. El año siguiente trajo otro cambio de discográfica Razor y un nuevo disco "Bad Boy". El éxito no les era ajeno y la BBC les calificó como un grupo divertido con su siguiente single titulado "Bad Boy". Bad Boy single fue lanzado en mayo de 1983, por lo que no era de extrañar que las grandes discográficas empezaron a husmear alrededor de la banda, y que el verano la banda firmó con rama de la Warner Bros, Fue el comienzo de tiempos difíciles para la banda, tanto ellos como su sello luchado para llegar a una transacción comercial y escuchar sus éxitos en la radio. 

Arrasaban allá por donde pasaban y sus conciertos eran lleno seguro, no solo en UK, los Estados Unidos también supieron de sus éxitos en varias giras en una de ellas siendo su telonero una banda que por entonces empezaba en Sunderland, Toy Dolls. 

En el año 1984 reciben una oferta de la Warner por 180.000 libras, y en el año 1985 sacan un nuevo disco titulado "This is our life" en el cual recuperan algunas canciones de su álbum debut. 1985 - 1986, Smart Alex y Fifth Overture Hacen una tirada limitada de 4 canciones de Caras B en noviembre de 1985 y son vendidas en un par de días. 

En 1985 la banda recuperó espectacularmente bien con el álbum Smart Alex, el álbum cuenta con una gran cantidad de estilos y temas, todos de forma indeleble con sello de identidad peculiar propio de la banda, desde la sensual California, Crazy y Runaway siendo uno de sus Álbumes más entrañables y de aventura. La banda de nuevo en forma y también como se vendió bien pasó más de un mes en las listas de Indie, llegando a un número 7. 

The Adicts ampliado a una moneda de cinco, con la adición de James Harding tecladista como nuevo miembro de la banda, y a continuación, en 1986, terminó la grabación de su próximo álbum en Alemania. Fifth Overture, fue publicado inicialmente por el sello alemán, Gama, antes de ser recogido por el Reino Unido por Fallout un año más tarde, álbum con un estilo diferente, pero era muy poco promovido, por estilo del disco la banda se hundió casi sin dejar rastro comercialmente. 

1986 - 1993, Presentaciones y periodo de descanso

Las discusiones sobre detalles género no impidió que la banda disfruta de un éxito tremendo en presentación en vivo con giras por el mundo, como la salida de su álbum en vivo (grabado en frente de su público fiel alemán), Rockers Into Orbit , en 1988. Después de viajar constantemente durante años se tomó un descanso de un par de años para curar sus heridas y alimentar a sus masas creativas de nuevo a plena forma. Regresaron de 1992 con Twenty Seven para EU con el sello Cleopatra. 

Twenty Seven, Un álbum mucho más difícil y más satisfactorio que Fifth Overture' ya que permitió a la banda para incorporar un juego interactivo de la banda con el espectador a bordo en el arte, que los participantes haciendo todo lo que la banda se disfrutaba mas las presentaciones de las giras. Twenty Seven Era un buen retorno a la forma. La rápida 'Angel' te tranquiliza de inmediato que estás de vuelta en el clásico de territorio de la banda, y despertar con F@ck It Up mas anárquico. El álbum tomando el lugar destructivo original de la banda. Llega el periodo de parón para la banda, ya que no iba a ser otro álbum en diez años antes de que la banda considera el momento adecuado para entrar en de otro estudio de grabación nuevamente. 

2002 - Actualmente, El Regreso de The Adicts 

Después de retomar la carrera la banda, enttro en el Studio Earles en Ventura, California en el 2002, donde escribió, ensayó y grabó todos los cortes de diecinueve canciones de su álbum, Rise and Shine. Básicamente, confiar en la química única que ha desarrollado a lo largo de su larga historia, llena de acontecimientos para ayudar a dar forma a algunas de sus canciones más fuerte y diversas hasta la fecha. Se licenció el álbum de sus propios Dee Dee Records de Captain Oi como parte de un amplio plan para volver a enviar a la banda por la parte musical de nuevo. reconoce el miembro de la banda Kid que nunca han tenido miedo de experimentar y jugar hablando sobre el nuevo álbum. 

Después de Rise and Shine hubo un periodo donde los miembros se quisieron normalizar cuenta monkey, en ese periodo Kid tenía a sus hijos, Mel tenía asuntos y ocupaciones, Pete tenía otras bandas para producir, mientras que monkey se sentaba con tristeza en su cuarto, con maquillaje y esperando una llamada para tocar de nuevo. 

Llamada que fue en el 2005, cuando la banda decide hacer Rollercoaster que resumían lo que son como banda grabándolo con el sello de SOS Records. En el 2008 la banda saca una re-edición del álbum Songs of Praise celebrando el 25 aniversario del mismo. Después de 31 años juntos, con los miembros originales desde siempre, adicts en el 2009 deciden lanzar un álbum nuevo con el sello discográfico de People Like You, titulado Life Goes On y hacer una edición con un DVD con escenas de la gira TOTEN HOSEN Tour 2009 con Die Toten Hosen.
